Here's one of my new prototypes.  I have just designed several new onboard pre-amp modules.

I have a discrete fet 2-band eq with adjustable gain which is available in two voicings; "Standard" or "High".  The "high" voicing has the treble control set a little higher to bring out the best of bright modern pickups and Music Man pickups set in parallel mode - great for slapping.

I've also designed a dual mid control with hi-Q filters at 220Hz and 690 Hz.  Used with one of my 2-band pre's you get a 4-band EQ on board!

I've also just installed the "Ultimate Mid Control" in my new "Leo" bass.  This is a single mid control that automatically changes from hi mids to low mids as you turn it.  In other words, you can boost the low mids (for a fat fingered sound) when you turn it up and cut the hi mids (for a fat slap sound) when you turn it down.  I love this circuit!

My "Tri-band" preamp has a 3-band eq, adjustable gain and a buffered volume control.  A buffered volume control means that the sweep of the knob is always the same no matter what amp or pedal you plug into, and, more importantly, no tone is rolled off when you back off the volume.  If you use one of my mid controls with a 2-band, the volume control should be wired between the two modules.  This way, the 2nd module is buffering the volume control.

I've also designed a 2-channel pickup mixer.  This allows you to use virtually any two pickups.  You can even blend an active (EMG-style) pickup with a passive.  It features volume and blend controls, plus a miniature volume control on one of the channels so that the louder of the two pickups (usually the neck pickup) can be matched with the other - the perfect blend!
