Here's the guitar that I completed towards the end of 2002.  I've always loved the look of Telecasters, especially black ones.  So I made one for myself.  The body is alder, the neck is Grey Ironbark and the fretboard is ebony.  I contoured the body similar to a Strat, the neck is glued in, and it's finished in nitro lacquer.

The first few images show a Bill Lawence pickup in the neck position, and a standard tele single-coil at the bridge.  I've since replaced both pickups with one of my own in the neck position, and a Kent Armstrong hum-cancelling pickup at the bridge.  The fourth shot (lower left) shows the custom humbucker that I made.  The cover of this pickup was machined from a piece of mahogany, then stained black and sprayed with satin polyurethane.  It features two rows of alnico magnets.

The switch is a 5-way Schaller Mega Switch.  This allows me to not only have the three standard tele options, but also the neck pickup coil tap on its own, or with the bridge pickup.  I've found both of these to be useful sounds.  I also since added a tone pot.

I'm very happy with the look, sound and feel of this guitar.  It has a full, clear sound, with a great deal of sustain, and an extremely even response.
